General Potttery was established in 2018 to support both those starting to make with clay and those already on their creative journey.
Since 2020 we have been in at 27 Essex Street.
Our Ethos
Our ethos is to promote locally-made, sustainably produced pottery supplies.

This means :
Where possible we select local products.
We are mindful of the origin of our products.
We try to limit plastic - we don't stock plastic tools and limit plastic packaging.
The Result
As a result, we stock a range of beautiful locally designed and handmade tools.
We also carry slips, engobes and glazes which reflect the colours and use materials of Te Wai Pounamu / South Island.
Our clays are made sustainably or are manufactured in Aotearoa / New Zealand.
